LaWanna and Phillip Rolack: The Lifelong Learners

A hospital isn't the most ideal place for a meet-cute. But it happened back in 1978 for LaWanna and Phillip Rolack, who met in a now-closed Detroit hospital when they were both laid up for respective stays. "I saw this pair of legs sticking out," Phillip, 62, says, "and I said, 'let me step over here and talk to her.'" They married a few years after dating, raising three children along the way. Now, they bask in the first part of their retirement years. "I truly love him," LaWanna, 59, says. "Love survived, and it's not just for the good times.
