Commemorate Black History Month 2013 by visiting your favorite museums, venues and theaters. Throughout the month of February, there will be an abundance of establishments in metro Detroit offering historical, informational and artistic events highlighting black history. In the spirit of this year's Black History Month theme, Journey and Legacy, the Henry Ford will be celebrating the heritage of African Americans who changed the world through multiple special performances. Each performance will celebrate specific eras in black history: Pre-Emancipation (Feb. 2-3), Northern Migration (Feb. 9-10), Civil Rights Movement (Feb. 16-17) and Contemporary Times (Feb. 23-24).
