Wedded Bliss: Adrian Williams and William Kuhn

BLAC celebrates black love.

Adrian is a cost analyst for International Automotive Components in Southfield, and William is an instructor at Dorsey Schools in Roseville. They currently reside in Warren and honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Here, Adrian shares details from their two wedding days.

Dates: April 9, 2017 and Oct. 28, 2017

Ceremonies: The Venetian in Las Vegas and Roostertail in Detroit

Reception: Roostertail in Detroit

First dance: "So in Love" by Jill Scott featuring Anthony Hamilton

Photographers: Venetian Photography and Cayden J'adore Photography

The ceremonies

"Oct. 28 was our original wedding date, but I underwent brain surgery in early 2017. Through the whole ordeal, Will's and my love grew stronger, and we didn't want to wait, so we planned a Las Vegas ceremony in just two months. But we kept our original October ceremony, too, for the friends and family that couldn't make the trip."

The dresses

"When in Vegas, you have to bling out, right? There, I wore a gold dress embellished in iridescent crystals. In Detroit, for the ceremony, I wore the same dress my sister was married in, which has a 3-foot train and hand-stitched embellishments. I hope to pass that dress on to my daughter to continue the family tradition. I changed into a shorter, Cinderella-esque dress with an insane amount of tulle for the reception."

The flowers

"The red rose was our official flower. We wanted them everywhere. Red and white roses, lilies, poinsettias and various other flower sprays were provided by Affordable Flowers in Birmingham."

Most memorable moment

"Our first dance in Detroit was amazing. We wanted to have a confetti pop when we said 'I do,' but unfortunately, the thing jammed. During our first dance, our planner, Shawna, surprised us with a redo confetti drop. The crowd went wild!"
