Wedding expert Keasha Rigby says 'yes' to Detroit.
Just in time for summer wedding season, bridal consultant Keasha Rigsby, who came to national prominence via TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress and TV One’s Keasha’s Perfect Dress, brings her expertise to local brides-to-be in her new bridal boutique paradise located in Detroit’s Rivertown district.
Brides (and bridezillas) everywhere are all-too-familiar with the pressures of making their big day perfect. At Beautiful Bridal with Keasha Rigsby, the native Brooklynite caters to all women no matter their size, shape or ethnicity, making that gown a piece of wedding cake.
“I want to give every bride her dream wedding,” Rigsby says. “I want to let her know how beautiful she is. I don’t care if you’re White, Black, Chinese, Puerto Rican, tall, short, skinny or curvaceous. I want them all. I want all of the brides to come here.”
Rigsby’s search for the perfect brick-and-mortar to achieve her vision-11 years in the making, she says-was not easy. Rigsby traveled to hot spots like Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta and cities across the border in Canada.
While away on business one day, she recalls receiving pictures from her business partner of the potential gold mine here in Detroit. When she first toured the 7,200-square-foot French Renaissance Revival mansion her business now calls home, Rigsby was unimpressed; there was mold, “spider webs as big as Jumanji” and holes in the ceiling. It wasn’t until she saw the staircase that bells started ringing.
“Chills went down my spine. I had to get in this building,” Rigsby says.
The boutique offers more than 1,000 gown selections, hostess “try-on” parties, champagne and strawberries for a fancier touch and much more.
“Detroit is up-and-coming, and I decided this would be a great start-up location,” Rigsby says. “It’s filled with entrepreneurs, myself included. It’s a blessing to be a part of this great movement that is happening now in Detroit.
“I’m not here to try and change anything. I want to latch onto everyday people,” she adds. “I am very passionate and tenacious about opening this bridal salon right here in Detroit.”
